11/20/1957 - 02/25/2023
William “Bill” Scott Martin, 65, passed away on February 25, 2023 in his home in Sarasota, FL. Bill was born November 20, 1957 to Rose-Ina Martin and the late James Martin in Philadelphia, PA. He is survived by his mother Rose-Ina Martin, his children Eleni & Constantine, sister Lynn, and brother Gary (Dorothy and his 6 children).
For those who want to pay respects to Bill and his family, those who knew and loved him are welcome at Ichiban Restaurant in Sarasota for his memorial at 2pm Saturday, March 25, 2023.
Bill moved to Sarasota in 1979 and enjoyed playing music, cooking, and fishing. Bill was a devout Christian and believed in kindness, generosity, and second chances. He believed his children to be his greatest accomplishment.
Bill was a chef extraordinaire and volunteered his cooking talents to terminally ill cancer patients after winning his battle with cancer. He also cooked Thanksgiving meals at the church for families in need. However, his favorite thing to cook would be a fresh fish that he caught.
Bill played with his band at the Salty Dog and various events on his harmonica. He also wrote original songs and poetry and was working on an album to share with the world. He believed that music can heal himself and others and wanted to use his songs to advocate for peace and righteousness in the world.
Bill’s time was best spent laughing with friends and family or enjoying nature and life. He often said “don’t take life too seriously”. Bill helped and touched the lives of so many and there is no question he will be deeply missed.
