William "Bill" Golden, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born and raised in Pawtuxet Village, Cranston, Rhode Island, Bill was the son of Olga C. and Lawrence H. Golden. He was the beloved husband of Carol J. Golden, devoted father of Kimberly Ann Ryan (Steve) and Brett Travis Golden (Nina), proud grandfather of Micayla Bautista, great-grandfather of Aurora Elena, and a loving big brother to Joyce and Betsy, uncle, and great-uncle.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant and Military Dog Trainer.
From a young age, Bill dreamed of becoming a wild animal trainer. After meeting legendary circus performer Clyde Beatty as a boy, he began working summers as his assistant, launching a remarkable career in the circus. Through determination and hard work, Bill became a respected trainer and performer, presenting tigers, lions, elephants, and horses in the center ring. With Carol and their family always by his side, they traveled together, creating a life filled with adventure and unforgettable memories.
After retiring, Bill fulfilled another lifelong dream by settling in Sarasota, Florida, a community long associated with circus performers. There, he embraced his faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, eventually serving as an Elder in his congregation.
In retirement, Bill discovered a passion for sculpting, creating beautiful works inspired by elephants, the circus. He also shared his beautiful singing voice with family and friends, performing many beloved folk songs from artists such as Peter, Paul and Mary, Bob Dylan, and Joan Baez.
Bill will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, remarkable talent, unwavering faith, and deep love for his wife, family, and friends. His life was one of courage, dedication, and kindness—a life truly well lived.
