Samuel Macdonald Downie of Punta Gorda FL, passed away November 01, 2020 in
Bayfront Hospital.
He was born on February 15th 1938 to Jonathan and Ena Downie in St. Michael Barbados.
He attended Meridian boys’ school before attending The Combermere School in 1946.
He worked as a butler at The Hotel Royal before joining the Barbados Police force in 1960.
He continued to work at the Barbados Police force before leaving at the rank of Sergeant and immigrating to the United States in 1970. He settled in Massachusetts and was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston and lived in Hyde Park, Ma, until retirement and moving to Fl.
While employed at the Charlotte County House of Correction, He attained his Bachelors in Liberal Arts from Florida Southern College. He retired from the Charlotte County House of Correction in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stephanie Downie, his children Dean, Anderson, Alphia and Andrew Parris, Barbara, Jennifer and Stephen Downie, and Carla Lennon as well as Grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings Errol and Emerson Downie, Margaret Whitehall, Gracia Mitchell, Cynthia Mayers, Neil, Harrold, Roseita and Ena .
He was Pre-deceased by brothers Everton and Jonathan Downie
He will be missed by all
