Robert A Oglander
05/26/1930 - 03/11/2025
Robert A. Oglander, 94, died March 11 in Sarasota, FL, surrounded by his loving family.
Oglander is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mitzi, their three children: Cindy Moskovitz (Scott) of Nashville, TN; Gary Oglander (Eva) of Englewood, FL; and Susan Chappell (Lindsay) of Franklin, TN; as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Oglander owned retail businesses in Missouri, Kentucky and Florida.
Oglander’s clothing store was a community fixture in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO, in the 1960s and ’70s. The store was a scene of local excitement, with live music and radio broadcasts, a popular talking mynah bird and the latest in men and women’s fashion.
In 1976, Oglander relocated to South Florida, where he entered into the office supply business, owning both Ellie's and Statewide Office Supply. He also developed a late-in-life interest in baking, delivering his cakes and treats to local firefighters, as well as artistic skills for colorful needlework that resulted in gallery shows in Lexington, KY, and New York City.
