Mathilde Morgenroth was welcomed into heaven in the early morning hours of August 26, 2021. Born on March 24, 1935 to Katharina and Johann Boehm in Hlas, Germany, she was one of five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt O. Morgenroth, and daughter, Sonja E. Cline. She has two great grandchildren, additional family members, and many dear, close friends.
Mathilde attended early school years in Czechoslovakia. She continued her education in West Germany, where her love for gardening and farming was solidified in the Agriculture School for Girls. In 1957 Mathilde and Kurt met in Niefern, Germany, and two years later, Kurt wrote Mathilde from Canada, asking for her hand in marriage. They were wed in Toronto on August 29, 1959.
Mathilde’s family path led to the US, where her love of Germany was sprinkled throughout her home and her life. She was known for her authentic German Rouladen and dumplings and abundance of holiday Stollen. She was a member of the Germania Singers in Poughkeepsie, NY for many years. Residing in FL, she immersed herself in her community of friends and family, attending German services at both Faith Lutheran Church of Sarasota and NPCUCC of North Port, FL. Mathilde was a gentle yet strong woman whose lovely smile and heart of gold will forever be remembered and adored.
A memorial service is not planned at this time. Special thanks to Tidewell Hospice and the tender care she received under their care.
