With heavy hearts, we share the news of Lynne Mary DeGovanni's passing on February 28, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family at home. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 5, 1952, to parents Teresa and Wilford Jenkins; Lynne’s journey through life began. She attended Hallahan Catholic High School where her life took a turn for the better when she fell in love with Thomas James DeGovanni, they married in 1971. The union was blessed with the birth of three children Thomas James, Krista Marie, and Mark Raymond, to whom she was a deeply devoted and loving mother.
As her children grew, Lynne returned to school and graduated from Hahnemann University with a nursing degree, subsequently dedicating her life to others as a registered nurse. In 1995, Tom and Lynne relocated to Sarasota, Florida. This place brought them immense joy as their three grandchildren were born, filling their lives with happiness and laughter. Lynne also enjoyed a passion for gardening and the fulfillment of giving back as a volunteer at a local dog rescue, where she touched many lives.
Lynne's memory will be cherished forever by her husband of 52 years Thomas James, daughter Krista Marie, son Mark Raymond, daughter-in-law Anna Maria, and Lynne’s three granddaughters, Lyndsey Marie, Amelia Marie, and Isabella Maria. She is now reunited with her beloved eldest son, Thomas James, and her parents in the presence of God. A service to celebrate Lynne's life will be held on March 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Bible Chapel located at 4201 Bahia Vista Road, Sarasota, with a luncheon to follow. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, to make contributions to the Underdog Rescue of Florida, a cause close to Lynne’s heart.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’ ” John 11:25-26
