Lois Durand Perez
07/09/1925 - 03/06/2026
Lois Perez passed on March 6, 2016 after a brief illness. She is survived by her three children, Arthur (Randy), Donald, and Katherine, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Lois was born in Newark, NY on July 9, 1925 to Castella Durand (nee Hees) and Charles Durand. She and her brother, Al grew up in the Rochester, NY area, and she graduated from the University of Rochester. She married her husband, Arturo in 1949, and they remained married until his death in 2017. They raised their three children in White Plains, NY. A voracious reader since childhood, she was an enthusiastic library volunteer, including chairing the board of the Purchase Free Library. She was also a big fan of competitive swimming, and was a key volunteer supporting daughter Kathy's swim teams. Following in her own mother's footsteps she was also active in the women's organization PEO. After Arturo's retirement, they moved to Fairport, NY, and then Charlotte, NC. Following his death she moved to Sarasota and bought a house with Kathy.
Lois will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations to her favorite charity Doctors without Borders will be appreciated.
