Linda M. Malloy, 77, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, from complications related to long COVID. Born on September 19, 1948, in New York City, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Jim and Kay McGowan.
Linda attended Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford and earned an associate’s degree from Cardinal Cushing College in Boston, Massachusetts, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to education and service.
She devoted countless hours as a volunteer for the Bridgeport Catholic Diocesan Council and the Darien Public Schools, served on the Board of Directors for the Middlesex Swim Club, and contributed to preserving history through her work with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. Linda was also a frequent blood donor, embodying compassion and generosity throughout her life.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Kay McGowan, and her sister, Karen Ann McGowan. She is survived by her loving husband, of 55 years, Kevin Malloy; her daughter, Kathryn Malloy Possidento, and husband Joseph Possidento; her son, Kevin Malloy, and wife Danielle Malloy; and her cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Kenzie Possidento.
Linda, affectionately known as “Grammy” to her grandchildren, found joy in following Matthew’s sporting events on GameChanger, traveling to Kenzie’s gymnastics competitions, and Face Timing with her grandchildren. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family on boating trips, proudly serving as the official fish counter during fishing adventures on Long Island Sound and in Siesta Key, Florida.
She will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Linda’s legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 22nd at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Ave, Stamford, CT 06902.
