Kimberly Smith Wheeler
12/13/1957 - 12/02/2020
Kimberly Smith Wheeler of Sarasota passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020. Kim was born in Fullerton, California on December 13, 1957. She spent part of her early childhood in New Castle, England where her father’s engineering job took the family. Later, the Smiths returned to the states where Kim attended Trinity High School in Richmond, Virginia.
Kim acquired a BA from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia and went on to receive her certificate in Dental Hygiene from the Medical College of Virginia. She relocated to Sarasota in 1985 where she started her family and raised her three children.
After many years of working as a dental hygienist in local dental offices, Kim was led to start her own Dental Hygiene ministry...Tooth Fairy Kim, where she provided care to elderly, homebound patients as a mobile hygienist. A reoccurrence of breast cancer could never take away her beauty or grace, nor compromise her legacy of being a devoted mother, mother-in-law and grandmother – her greatest joy and accomplishment.
Kim is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Kathryn Smith of Sarasota. She is survived by her children, Bridgett Wheeler, Lindsey Uhl (Charles) and Adam Wheeler of Sarasota; in addition to her granddaughter, Lorelai Kahn, sister, Sandy Johnson of Daytona, Florida, nieces, Tazia Smith(Michael Molnar) of New York City and Tristan Johnson of Daytona, Florida.
Kim leaves behind her loving church family, the “Sisterhood 5”, an abundance of treasured friends, patients and her faithful companion, Blueberry.
The family wishes to express their special thanks to her angelic friend and nurse, Julie.
A celebration of Kim’s life will be memorialized during the sermon at 10:30A.M. on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Beneva Christian Church, Sarasota with Pastor David Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to: Genesis Dental Clinic, 247 South Tamiami Trail, Nokomis, Florida 34275.
