Kevin Duane Muxfeldt

Kevin Duane Muxfeldt, 65, of Sarasota, Florida died December 19, 2021 at his home. A memorial service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church in Sarasota on January 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in Story City, Iowa next summer. He will be cremated at Your Traditions Cremation and Funeral Chapel. Kevin has requested a burial at sea on a cruise ship in the Western Caribbean.

 

Kevin Muxfeldt was born in Webster City, Iowa on August 4,1956 to Harvey and Aretta (Luppes) Muxfeldt. Kevin, known to his friends as Muxy, graduated from Webster City High School and completed his training at Iowa State University with a degree in Economics. Over the years he worked various jobs ending his career after 28 years at the Iowa Department of Transportation, retiring in 2016.

 

In 1983 he married Margaret (Peg) Gurnett from Fort Dodge, finally settling in Story City, Iowa where they lived until their retirement. They had two sons, Mark and Scott. Kevin enjoyed playing practical jokes, camping at the Iowa State Fair, cubmaster of Story City Pack 101, member of Grace United Methodist Church, and cruising to many exotic locations. 

 

Kevin is survived by his wife Peg of Sarasota, Florida; son Mark (Valerie) Muxfeldt of Roland, Iowa; son Scott Muxfeldt of Chicago, Illinois; grandkids Hayden and Isabella Muxfeldt; mother Aretta Muxfeldt of Webster City, Iowa; and sister Kate Quimby of Webster City, Iowa. 

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Muxfeldt, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Helen Gurnett.
