Joseph Verycken Jr., born on January 12, 1944, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at 6 p.m., surrounded by his loving family.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Joseph honorably served his country with the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War, where he bravely took part in the Tet Offensive. His courage and dedication were recognized with the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat.
After returning home, Joseph worked as a diesel mechanic, earning a reputation for his skill and integrity. He took pride in his craft and was always willing to help others, whether on the job or in his community with other veterans.
Joseph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Juana; his children, Joseph III and Olga; and five cherished grandchildren — Matthew, Michael, Aaron, Adam, and Abel. He was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Asher.
Joseph will be remembered for his strength, quiet wisdom, and unwavering love for those closest to him. His legacy of courage, faith, and devotion to family and country will live on in all who knew him.
