Joan Ida Norcia

Joan Ida Norcia (née Coppola), 89, of Manchester, NJ (formerly Watchung, NJ) passed away on Friday June 14, 2024 in Sarasota, Florida.
She was the daughter of the late Carmine and Ella (Hess) Coppola of Newark, NJ. Joan was raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, where she graduated from East Side High School in 1952 before working for many years at Prudential Insurance Company.
Joan and her husband Anthony moved to Watchung in 1967, where they lived for the next 35 years as she proudly raised her four children.
She had a quiet demeanor, and nobody had a bad word to say about her. Joan’s biggest accomplishment in life was her family, of whom she was fiercely protective. She was a dedicated homemaker, an excellent cook, and had the respect and admiration of everyone who knew her. Her home was the focal point of every holiday and special occasion.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Anthony and her daughter in law, Carol Norcia. Surviving are her children Pamela Lewis, Anthony Norcia, Carmine Norcia, and Gina Jamieson, along with her eight grandchildren (Andrea, Sarah, Alex, Martha, Natalie, Nicholas, Taylor and Kyle) and three great grandsons (Anthony, Dominic and Giovanni). She also leaves behind her beloved sister Dolores Pekaar and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held in Sarasota, Florida at a later date.
