Gloria B Cosgrove

Our beautiful Gloria, age 99, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side in Sarasota, Florida, in the early morning of July 19, 2026.  She joined her husband of sixty-three years, Donald, in the kingdom of heaven.

 

Gloria was born on March 29, 1927, in Floral Park, LI, NY, to Henry and Agnes Bagley and was raised by her devoted and loving mother in Laurelton, LI, NY. Gloria graduated from Dominican Commercial High School, Jamaica, LI, NY, in 1945, and became a legal secretary and model in New York City.  In 1951 she married Donald H. Cosgrove and raised their two daughters, Alison and Desiree in Valley Stream, LI, NY, Stoddard, NH, and Holderness, NH.  She then spent her remaining years with her family in Sarasota, FL.  

 

Gloria had a long, happy, fulfilling life amongst her family and friends.  She was a very talented portrait artist, quilter, and loved traveling the world with her husband and daughters.  Additionally, she ran a successful papercutting mail order business with her eldest daughter for forty years, sang in the church choir, started a neighborhood book club, and created a warm, loving, and welcoming home for her family, friends, and pets.  She will always be remembered as a kind, loving, generous, beautiful woman who always had a positive outlook on life. 

 

Gloria will be greatly missed by her family:  daughter Alison Cosgrove Tanner and son-in-law Charles Tanner with granddaughter Waverly Tanner; daughter Desiree Cosgrove Batchelder and son-in-law John Batchelder with grandchildren Todd and Holly Batchelder.  

 

Gloria's family would like to express their gratitude to Sarah, Charlene, and Lou of Tidewell Hospice (Sarasota, FL) for their excellent and devoted care of Gloria during her last five months of life. She will be buried at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL, next to her husband, Donald H. Cosgrove.
