Gayle Samar Moses
06/30/1948 - 01/03/2026
Gayle Samar Moses, 77, of North Port, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025. She
was born on June 30, 1948, in Willimantic, Connecticut, to Arthur and Helen (Pappas) Samar.
Gayle was a lifelong lover of classical music, a passion that began in early childhood. She was a
gifted musician who played the violin, piano, and saxophone, and she earned a degree in music
from the University of Connecticut. For many years, Gayle was a devoted member of the
Melrose Symphony Orchestra in Melrose, Massachusetts, and early in her career she shared her
love of music as a teacher. She later transitioned into a successful career as a pension actuary and
eventually became a business owner.
Gayle had a deep affection for cats and was rarely without one or more by her side. She also took
great pride in her Greek heritage, embracing her ancestry, traditions, and love of Greek cuisine.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Moses, the love of her life, as well
as her parents. Gayle is survived by her brother, Paul Samar (Annmarie) of Grafton,
Massachusetts, and her sister, Penny DeLand (Rick) of Knoxville, Tennessee; four nieces, one
nephew, two grand-nephews, and one grand-niece.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family, with a celebration of life to be announced
at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gayle’s memory to the Northeast
Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Avenue, Salem, Massachusetts 01970, where she adopted her first
cherished cat.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Arden Courts of
Sarasota, Florida, for the thoughtful and devoted care Gayle received during her time there.
