Esther Viola Mahaffey (Brant)

Esther Viola Mahaffey (Brant) age 81, passed away on November 1, 2026 at the SMH Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sarasota, Florida following a long-term illness. Family members were lovingly by her side when she took her final breath. 

She was born on October 2, 1945, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie Robson.

Esther was passionate about singing church hymns and known for her unwavering faith in Christ… even through life’s many hardships and struggles. She was a very dedicated mother and grandmother. Often reminiscing with each of them about their birth and name sake.  You could always find her with a good cup of coffee as her smile and laugh would contagiously fill up a room. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Loretta (Larry)  Rinehart , nephew Patrick Robson and great-nephew Ryan Ingram. 

She is survived by her two brothers Thomas (Jan) Robson of Columbia City, In. and Larry (Anne) Robson of Cambridge, Oh;  Her two sons, Christopher Robert Brant of Lincoln, Il., Alexander Steven Brant of South Lyon, Mi., and her daughter Deneen Marie Viola (Adam) Morgan of Canton, Oh.; grandson Seth Brant and step-granddaughter Avery Morgan both of Canton, Oh.; as well as by many nieces and nephews and other family members who will greatly miss her.   

Esther’s family wants to express their appreciation to the staff and care team for their compassion and care during her stay at the SMH Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sarasota, Florida.

There will be no funeral service at this time but a celebration of life will be planned for next year.
