Emmanuel Eugene Redding
January 7, 1955 - December 23, 2019
On December 23rd Emmanuel “Joe Joe” Redding was called home to be with the Lord.
Born in Norfolk, VA, Emmanuel attended Booker T. Washington High School. Shortly after high school he left Virginia to pursue his love of music which brought him to the New York/New Jersey area as an original member/percussionist in the band Mass Production. Emmanuel’s love for driving and cars led him to working for clothing designer Ellen Tracy as a truck driver, which he did for many years.
During his beginning years in New Jersey Emmanuel began his interest in healthy living which eventually lead him to becoming a distributor for Young Living and later an accomplished sales representative for Enagic.
Emmanuel obtained his formal training with Dr. Llaila Afrika, becoming a Certified Holistic Health Counselor in 2007. He continued his training in advance holistic healthcare and became a licensed Naturopath in 2008. Since that time Emmanuel developed a flourishing practice doing the work he loved.
Emmanuel, spent his life helping others.‘‘Doc E,‘‘ as he was affectionally known by his Sarasota friends and clients, had a passion for health and wellness. He lived a vibrant life. He radiated his light, and his energy filled every room he entered. He loved life, he loved people, and he loved enhancing the lives of others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Eleanor Redding, his sister, Donna Redding and daughter Tashenna Cofield. He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Autumn Redding, Mia Redding and Miles Redding and two grandchildren, Quashay “Shay” Frazier Jr. and Malia Williams. Emmanuel is survived by his sister Renee Redding-Jones, brother-in-law Jerry Jones and his niece, Jasmine Jones; family matriarch Eleanor Gray; cousins Dr. Valarie Turner, Eula Edler, Chuck Gray and Nakkia Gray; his ex-wife Crystal Redding and a host of very special friends, most notably Karen Sullivan.
His celebration of life service will be held on January 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at Your Traditions Funeral Chapel, 2118 Constitution Blvd. in Sarasota. On January 25th his second celebration of life service will be held at Unity Church of Christ, 471 Maywood Avenue in Maywood, NJ also at 11:00 am.
