Eloise Wooten Morgan

Eloise W. Morgan of Venice, FL passed away at age 93 on November 26, 2023 at the Englewood Hospital in Englewood, FL. She died from complications following a fall that had resulted in several fractures.

 

There are no scheduled services at this time but her remains will ultimately be interred in Dothan, AL next to her husband, Namon Morgan, Sr., who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her father and mother, Clifford and Lou Ella, her sister, Margaret, and her son, Namon Morgan, Jr. 

 

Mrs. Morgan was born and raised in Bristol, TN / VA  in 1929 and after moving multiple times in her life, she settled in Dothan, AL in 1975 and lived there until 2015 when she moved to Florida. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama and later graduated with a master's degree in library science from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She was a wife, mother and educator and retired as a library media specialist with Dothan City Schools in 1991.

 

She is survived by one son and daughter in law, Frank and Carolyn Morgan of Venice, FL., four grandchildren: Tara Morgan Barr (Len) of Auburn, AL, Laura Morgan Thomas (Sloan) of Dothan, AL, Nicole Morgan Stovall (Carl) of Southlake, TX, Steven Morgan of Windsor, CO, her former daughter in law, Elaine Sprayberry of Dothan, AL and seven great grandchildren.

 

Eloise enjoyed gardening and anyone who knew her understood she was meticulous about her yard and landscaping! She also liked doing crossword puzzles, reading and quiet time at home. She was petite but tough and resilient, and she survived and recovered from some very difficult experiences during her long life. May she rest in the arms of the Lord and with the loved ones who went before her. Amen.
