Edward "Eddie" F. Rankin III, age 58, originally of Carbondale, Illinois, joined his Heavenly Father on December 9, 2022 at his home in Sarasota, Florida.
Eddie was born on November 28, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Kathleen Guilfoyle and Edward F. Rankin, Jr. He was a graduate of Carbondale Community High School. He went on to earn his Master's Degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University, where he was actively involved in promoting the SIU recreation center and intramural recreational sports program. After leaving his hometown of Carbondale, Illinois, Eddie moved to St. Louis, Missouri followed by a move to Baltimore, Maryland. Most recently, he enjoyed splitting his time between his homes in Deep Creek, Maryland and Sarasota, Florida.
Eddie was a dedicated employee of Bank of America where he spent the last 28 years of his career. He rose through the ranks to Managing Director - Head of Tax Services, Private Bank. He was an avid sports fan, reader, cyclist, runner, and lifelong SIU Salukis fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and entertaining them with his incredible sense of humor.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Susan Rankin; his daughters Lexie (Connor) Gorman, Olivia Rankin; step-daughter Taylor (Rob) Ganzy; two grandchildren Emery and Cohen Gorman; step-mother Helen Rankin; siblings Tom Rankin, Kelly (Jeff) Lerman, Scott Rankin, Blake (Will) Stevenson, and Michael (Kimberly) Rankin; several nieces, nephews and close friends also survive.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Kathleen Guilfoyle and Edward F. Rankin, Jr.
Honoring Eddie's wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at Deep Creek Lake, MD in the Spring of 2023.
