Our beloved Stretch passed away peacefully at home with Wendy by his side, under hospice care, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
From an early age, he built a life with his own hands, running his own drywall business and taking pride in his hard work and independence. He had a passion for music and concerts and loved nothing more than hosting and entertaining his friends and family. His home was always a place where people could gather, laugh, share stories, and enjoy a good time.
He was married briefly earlier in life, and in 1988 he found his lifelong partner, Wendy Skolnick, who remained by his side for nearly four decades. He filled the role of stepdad for Wendy’s daughter, Sharon Davis and Alicia Labas.
He loved fishing in the Gulf, being on the water, spending time with the people he cared about, and, of course, enjoying a cold Budweiser.
He will be remembered for his hard work, love of music, generous spirit, sense of humor, and the countless good times he created for those around him. Rest easy Stretch. The music may have stopped, but the laughter, stories, and memories you gave us will play on forever.
A Celebration of Life will be 6-8pm Friday, September 25, 2026 at the family residence. Please call 252-876-2285 for the address. Your Traditions Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
