With hearts full of gratitude and deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father David J Gregor, age 85, who departed this life April 18th, 2026 peacefully at his home surround by his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on January 16th, 1941. He grew up in a home centered on faith, love, hard work and family, which shaped his character, values and pursuits throughout his life. To his daughter, her Mother, and grandson, he was a safe harbor, and the ultimate supporter who would do anything to see them happy. He lived by the belief that his family was his highest calling, and he showed them everyday that they knew they were loved and supported. David was the cornerstone of his family and transformed every dinner into a celebration, ensuring that love and laughter were always on the menu.
David’s uplifting presence and heartwarming smile will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. He touched countless lives with his kindness and will be remembered in our hearts forever. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many with his unwavering positivity and zest for life.
David was a dedicated commercial flatbed truck driver for over 30 years, a career that not only defined his professional life but also fed his soul. Known as “Mr. Lucky” to his friends on the road. He had numerous safety awards, a testament to his dedication and skill. He was a master of the road ensuring every haul was safe. His colleagues remember him as a steadfast friend and a man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
David was a man of many interests, country music, traveling, teaching Ryan how to be a handyman at everything, boating with his family in NC, feeling the wind on his face while motorcycling, and cruising in his beloved Dodge Challenger listening to his favorite Willie Nelson’s songs. He enjoyed life and always said “Just take one day at a time.”
In his spare time, he was an active member of the Moose Club and when living in Bonfield, Illinois, he was treasurer for the Lions Club for many years. David volunteered every year to help with the “dime pitch” at the Bonfield Fourth of July Celebration. So many wonderful memories were made.
David was preceded in death by beloved family, his father, Reginald “Jack” Gregor; his mother, Clarice Gregor; his sister Margaret Hammond; and his nephew, Shannon Baum.
He Is survived by a loving family who will cherish his memory forever-his daughter, Lisa Vickery, and her mother, Bette Gregor, cherished “PaPa” to grandson Ryan Vickery; his beloved sisters, Kathleen Gregor and Gloria Siller; his nieces, Teresa(Leo) Doan, Marcia(Robert) Cummings, Sheryl(Bird) Bergmann, and Kimberly(Scott) Richardson; his nephews, Shane(Debbie) Baum and Kipp Siller. He was also blessed with numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his beloved friends, Ed and Jo Green, Wayne and Linda Gilway. He will be greatly missed by his four legged friend, Savannah.
A Celebration of David's life will be held on May 16th, 2026 for immediate family and close friends—a fitting tribute to a man whose life touched so many.
