It is with reflection and gratitude that we honor the life of Asta and the legacy she leaves behind. She was born in 1943 on the island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands to her parents, Lilian and James Peter Skov. Her Godfather was Dr. Melvin H. Evans, who later became the first elected governor to the U.S. Virgin Islands, a distinction that connected her early life to the Island's history.
Asta was raised in a close-knit and vibrant family environment, shaped by the natural beauty of island life. Her childhood was spent enjoying the outdoors on beaches, boating, horseback riding, and helping on the family farm, while deeply connected to an extended family and a strong community of friends.
In 1961, Asta left St. Croix to pursue higher education at Seton Hill University in Greensburg Pennsylvania, where she studied Psychology. In 1965 she married and began raising her family, eventually settling in Sarasota Florida, where she devoted herself to her four children.
Throughout her life, Asta held various roles before discovering her true vocation in caregiving. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant, a profession well suited to her. This experience proved especially meaningful as she later cared for her own mother with great devotion until her passing in 2011.
Asta found peace and fulfillment in the simple joys of life. She enjoyed gardening, appreciated animals, and took great pleasure in the beauty of nature. Above all else, her greatest pride and joy was her family, particularly her seven grandchildren, who were a constant source of happiness in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lilian Violet Skov and James Peter Skov, and her brother, Carlos Skov.
Asta is survived by Larrie Moore and her four children: Christine Lemaire (married to David), Leslie Williams (married to Gene), James Gregory Moore (married to Shelley), and Brian Kelly Moore. She is also survived by her siblings, Jens Peter Skov (married to Patricia), Laura Koch (married to Walter) and Jean Pierre Skov (married to Janet), as well as her cherished grandchildren: Cloe Lemaire, Remi Lemaire, Maia Lemaire, Luc Lemaire, Taylor Williams, Grace Williams and Samuel Williams.
Asta will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her memory will remain deeply treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Asta will be honored at a Celebration of Life at Lake Tippecanoe Clubhouse, 4636 Tippecanoe trail, Sarasota FL, 34233, on April 11th, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. We encourage everyone to dress colorful in honor of our Island Girl.
