We were so sad to hear about Ute passing away. We remember her and Jack when we were volunteers at The Friendship Center in Sarasota. Every Monday she and Jack came to the exercise class together. She was such a sweet and classy lady.
We really only knew her basically for a weekend, but what a memory. At her Granddaughter 's wedding weekend we were treated to getting to know Ute and the great family that surrounded her as our nephew Mike became part of them. Our interactions with the family were wonderful but now we regret not having more. Reading Ute's life story in the MV TIMES, we are in awe of the variety and depth of her incredible existence on this earth. Her life in Germany during the War, and being on the Ellis Island Wall of Honor, are amazing facts. The number of places she lived and who she was makes you think of her positive impact on the social fabric of those communities, and is also an amazing undeniable fact. Her party guest book must be a treasure of the happiness and thoughts of people brought together by her personality. Her light has gone out but it is obvious she left enough glow for those she touched to see even in the darkest moment. Our deepest sympathies.
I will always remember Ute's kindness, the twinkle in her beautiful eyes, and her strength and courage. She was a lovely person. My deepest sympathies.
